Over the next decade, the Norwegian road agency plans dumping of tunnel masses at different locations in Sørfjorden from the development of new road between Bergen and Voss. In addition, there is a potential development of a new hydropower plant in Dale in

which the power plant will direct the water from the mountain reservoir directly into the fjord rather into the river Dale. With these upcoming changes to the fjord environment, we have started tracking Atlantic cod to collect data about their behaviour before any anthropogenic modifications.

In the end of August we placed out additional 8 receivers at Stanghelle and in towards the Dale bay. These will track cod over the next years. After placing out the receivers, we started using fyke nets to capture cod. The fyke nets were placed fairly close to shore given that cod are observed from shore. After capturing, we have tagged them internally with acoustic transmitters equipped with depth and temperature sensors. This technology allows us to follow their depth use and experienced temperature in the fjords.

With 30 tagged cod, we are now awaiting data collection
